On Hawthorne, Poe, "Gothic" writers, etc.
After doing searches on American Romanticism, it seems that a lot of the poets & novelists blur into the "gothic" as well..Can we seperate gothic from the romantic or is american romanticism essentialy just the gothic romantic?
Stephen put in a strong suggestion that we find and use scholarly sources to support the arguement of how our poet fits into the mold or ideas of Romanticism, because American Romanticism is not a clearly defined category..
and maybe I was the only one who was not sure about this but I guess we're focusing on just poetry
and.. I'm going to do Henry Wadsworth Longfellow if thats ok.

Give us a chance. I think it's good to set up the writer and give some examples and then describe how that example fits into the Romantic ideal
